In an email sent to the student body on Wednesday, July 7, Vice President for Student Development Dennis Negrón wrote that most COVID-19 restrictions including mask mandates, daily health screenings and social distancing requirements will be lifted on Monday, July 12. According to the email, contact tracing, quarantine and isolation protocols will still be upheld. The university came to the decision after many students and employees said they were either vaccinated or planning to be vaccinated in a campus-wide survey.
Although certain restrictions will no longer be required, the university encourages unvaccinated individuals to continue following CDC guidelines such as wearing a mask and social distancing, according to the email. The email also stated certain restrictions may be reinstated if an outbreak were to occur.
