A Southern Adventist University student was struck by a vehicle Monday morning at the crosswalk connecting Southern Village and the Collegedale Church of Seventh-day Adventists parking, according to Director of Marketing and University Relations Isaac James.
James said four witnesses reported that the crosswalk lights were activated. A news release posted to the Collegedale Police Department’s (CPD) Facebook page stated that the school zone lights were also activated at the time of the accident.
A 911 call was made just before 8 a.m., according to James. He said the student was transported to Erlanger Emergency Room with minor injuries, including lacerations.
James said the driver was not someone affiliated with Southern. No charges have been filed at this time, according to CPD Lieutenant Jamie Heath in an interview with the Accent.
The investigation is still ongoing as of 11:55 a.m.
