Nyah Jackson is a layout designer and reporter for the Southern Accent. She is a junior Journalism major with a minor in Public Relations and Advertising. Nyah enjoys organizing and planning, which is obvious from her in-depth Google Calendar. She enjoys writing because it allows her to absorb all of the world’s information and share her findings with others.

Southern’s annual talent show brought together music, poetry and creativity, showcasing student performers and awarding top prizes.

On Oct. 20, the Collegedale Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to fund $121,524 for new Toughbook laptops for the police department. Officials say the upgrade will improve reliability, efficiency, and officer performance in the field.

Southern Adventist University students are disappointed after a $100K Senate donation for accessibility improvements resulted in only a few automatic doors being installed. While a wheelchair-accessible van was completed, the cost of door openers was higher than expected, leaving many areas on campus still difficult for students with disabilities.
